Just read an article about a stupid lawsuit that raised an interesting question in regards to campus PC.
Young Mormon freshman at a Bay area high school is teased by classmates who asked "Do you have 10 Mom's?"
She replied "That's so gay!" and was written up for using hate speech. Parents sued, yada yada yada.
Beyond the fact that removing that phrase from the teenage lexicon would eliminate about 60% of their conversational arsenal, no one seemed to think that harrassing the girl with polygamous stereotypes was a problem.
Perhaps I'm sensitive to this since I still remember when my oldest son nearly got kicked out of 1st grade for using the "N" word towards a classmate. The other boy wasn't in trouble even though he started the fight by calling young Frank a "Chink" (actually Mestizo Filipino) and punching him -- just before he got his ass kicked.
To the PC nazis, what's good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander. Why is that?
