my deal with the diesel 31 fell apart so i have moved on.

looking at a 25' 1992 dusky center console with a 225 evinrude, brand new powerhead on a dusky drive. has anyone ever owned one. looking for good or bad opinions. do you get your ass kicked, speed, you know basic intel. hull is solid, just need to find out if it will make a good dive boat.

dive 98% of the time
fish 2% of the time :cowboy:

I ran a 23 with a 200 merc for years.
The hull was dry unless it was loaded wrong (normal for most boats) for its size and power there was nothing that could keep up. I would run circles around the Mako's and Aquasports. The Dusky drive makes a big difference. It's alittle weight sensitive as the deadrise was carried steep all the way to the transom. The full length lifting strakes are a nice feature also.

That's a good boat. Solid as heck and ride pretty good. Been out in my buddies a bunch of times. It is heavy.... the 225 will be okay, but a 250 would be better.

Good luck.

I have been on a 23 a lot in the bahamas. Its a good boat and is very solid. the 23 rides surprisingly well so i can imagine the 25 would be nice.

Brad,
That is the same boat that I went to the Bahamas on over 50 trips. Good solid ride, can be a little hard hitting in the wrong seas (What boat isn't?) She should cruise about 25knts. If I did not buy the boat I have now, I would have probabaly bought one like that.
Now the motor is another story. That Evinrude Ficht is a POS. Get a new Suzuki 300 and you will be dialed in for sure.
Good Luck.

Thats not a FICHT motor, it is a carbed engine. Nothing wrong with that motor. Can be a little thirsty.

I agree that that boat may end up being a dog with only a 225.

I've made several trips on the same hull W two Ocean pro 175s . The ride is good and dry as wel . That boat will be slightly underpowered if your looking for more than 25mph cruise speeds.l

thanks for the info everybody.

gr- the motor is a evinrude 225 carb. the powerhead is brand new 4 hrs. compression is perfect in every cylinder (checked my self). not a new powerhead with the old starter, powerpacks, vro pump, carbs. everthing is out of the box new. for alittle under 8k should be a good deal. only problem needs a trailer, anybody have a tandem for sale?

keep the info on dusky coming.

thanks in advance.

Never been on a Dusky, but my old 21 Mako had a 1993 225 Johnson. I ran the hell out of it and never had an issue. Boat might be a bit under powered but if the price is right go for it.

8 Grand, that seems to be a very good price.

That is a very good engine, as long as you don't overprop it, it should be fine.

What is a dusky drive??

BTW, make sure you take it for a spin before buying.

Picked up my new trailer yesterday in Tampa. Ordered it through Pirate Marine. 5200# LED lights, stainless hardware package, front center boards, 12 Disc brakes, Single torsion axle, 15" tires. $3070.00 out the door. Everyone around me wanted 3800.00 for the same deal with springs.

That is a hell of a deal...and that motor is not only damn near bombproof, it is easy to work on. It may run a bit thirtsty but the money you save on maintenance by being able to do it yourself should counter that.

I had a 25 cabin model for 9 years. More boats should be made like this. Sorry I ever sold it. It was not a dry boat but then I went in that boat when the other 25's wouldn't leave the dock. IT IS VERY HEAVY. Mine was an diesel inboard. 240hp ran around 24knts cruise.
