I just found this on sierratradingpost.com. Unbelievable, a 7mm semi-dry suit for $125.00. Comes with a vest w/hood attached.

What parts get wet in a semi-dry suit?

The price just went up to $178.00. It's not supposed to keep any part of you entirely dry. It has special seals in the wrists, ankles and neck that come very very close to sealing off water. The zippers are water tight. So, you really don't get any water circulating throughout the suit, keeping you much warmer than a traditional wetsuit. I have a few friends that dive semi-drys and they tell me that their chests stay dry, but dry is not guaranteed by the manufacturer.
Semi-drys are easier to dive than full dry suits b/c they do not have a bouyant/shifting air pocket to deal with. No training necessary.

Used my semi-dry this weekend and I am very happy with it. I got damp but could not feel any water movement within the suit. I stayed plenty warm. Today's price is $161.05. It just keeps changing.

Neoprene must be a volatile market. Can you buy futures in it??:D

It was warm where I was diving, Islamorada. But, I get chilled easily. I didn't feel any water exchange. We need a thread where we discuss the various semi-dry suits.

I bought a 5 mil semi-dry suit last year and they are GREAT! One great thing about them is you don't get that sudden blast of cold water thru your suit when you roll into the water like you do with a regular wetsuit. The seals only let small amounts of water seep in and your body warms it up immediately. I like the 5 mil over the 7 mil due to it being a hell of a lot more flexible which is invaluable when spearing!! IMO of course.

All my suits are semi dry until I take a piss!
95% of all divers admit to pissing in their wetsuits, the other 5% are liars.:D

Even tho there where hundreds of great deals on slightly used wetsuits on Ebay I'm still happier every single day that I spent the extra $$$ on a new one without the yellow crotch panel.

Second that buying new dive suits eyeball. I really do my best to avoid pissing in my suit. My dive buddies will attest that give it the old college try (over the gunnell) before and after every dive.
