I'm arriving in Largo on the 13th and planned on pursuing some fish and snorkleing around the reefs. However, it looks like h'cane Isabel wants to dance around southern Fl.
I hope she doesn't step on anyone's toes but I fear she at least will churn up the water.
How concerned are folks from the upper Keys?
If I have to condense my trip to a day or 2.. which reef/wreck is tops for snorkleing in the Largo area? I have always gone to Marathon/ middle keys in the past and want to try something a little different.

How about those ripping currents....are they effecting the shallows as well as the deeper depths?

Less time on the water means more time in the bars....if they're open.

Cheers,

The current is not too bad in the shallows. The best dive down there is the Spiegel Grove. Can't shoot anything until you are past Key Largo and out of the park. Even then, you must be three miles from shore until you get to Long Key.

yea, I 've been watching the weather. And knew it twas the season when I made the plans.
I have an option which takes me to Tampa/St.Pete for the week. But I really have the itch to get to the keys. I figure we should be good 'til Tuesday.
If evacuation is required--- the road will be so congested I will probably just ship myself home in a wooden crate, apparently that works!
