Hey all,
I am considering a purchase of an 18ft OFFSHORE brand v hull boat. Boat is a 1993, with a 1987 Suzuki 140 outboard. It has a t top and electronics to include garmin gps with chip, vhf radio, and hummingbird bottom finder. Boat is in excellent ++ condition and extremely clean. Motor runs great and has been compression checked.
Looking for input, I will be using this boat for fishing and hopefully spearfishing later, as I am new to the sport.
Cost on the boat is $4000, and that is about my price range.
Whaddya think, good setup for the money?
Apprecitate the input.

The older Suzuki's had corrosion issues and the one on you are looking at is ?20 years old?
Is the boat still a fair value if you had to re-power?

I think so. I figure maybe on selling the suzuki and repowering. Your advice is exactly why I started this thread....
Thanks! Now if I have to repower, hmmm, guess I may have to start a motor purchase thread... :D

If you are a school teacher (grade or high) then no. I came to florida via Illinois seventeen years ago. Lived in Zhills for two years and Ridge Manor for four. Worked for a year or so for Progress Energy in Zhills, and I shoe horses full time (part time then). I am sure I have seen you somewhere down there though, as I have read every electric meter in Zhills, and probably walked through your yard at some point. :D

I think I do remember a smithy who worked for the 'lectric company.
I own Aquatic Adventures Scuba in Zephyrhills.
I'm the big ugly guy behind the counter. :D

You and I have definately talked...LOL
Our last conversation included a discussion about my wifes fear of sharks. You set me straight about the fact that we are not on their menu.
She is still afraid, but I am determined to get a boat and get out spearfishing. We have been planning on the boat thing for a long time, and have just got the funds to be able to complete the purchase.
Once the boat is purchased (the RIGHT boat ;) ) we are going to work on a coast guard class for safety and navigation, some equipment purchases, then I am going to get my feet wet (no pun intended) and start learning the sport.
Next time I am in Zhills I will come by and say hello!
