This will be a combined report, Craig (killer/griller) came down and we were able to get out Saturday 3/31, and Tuesday, 4/3. Will (jristheking) was along both days as well.

Hit some live bottom spots in 100'. Saw lots of fish, stayed within our recreational limits on all...got checked by the "man" and passed with flying colors...speaking of flying, even got a flyover by a couple F-16's that broke the sound barrier right on top of us.

Once under the snot layer at 10 - 20 foot, the visability opened up to 50 - 60+ on most spots.

Temps are finally above 70 offshore which allowed for comfy diving when coupled with the 80+ degree air temps. Ocean was flat calm both days.

A few notable pics:

First, me with a 21lb 7oz. Red snapper:

Craig with a nice male lobster, over 11lbs...if the tail matched the head, it would have been 3 - 4 lbs heavier:

Craig also took a nice Scamp, 19lbs, 8 oz.:

21lb 9 oz Hog from Tuesday:

As a side note, I will personally contest that these fish eat only clams & stuff. Very shortly after inserting a piece of steel into his forhead, this hog coughed up a vermillion snapper that had to be at least a pound.

Wow! All GREAT fish and bugs. Looking forward to my SC trip in a couple of weeks. Just got to get all this work done first. Glad to hear the water temps have risen.

Great looking fish, :thumps: enjoyed the report...Good huntin'...I guess the fish and lobsters have been left alone pretty much most of the winter from spearos. Looking forward to a trip up there this year...you really make it tough to wait for my trip...I'm ready NOW!!

Tie strap. Get tired of dragging a bag around. Zip tie the tail on the fish stringer and keep moving. Wind up getting a "focused" massage on your leg when they clamp down. No question on whether he is still there or not. How did the stream trip turn out? I didn't see a report up.

We caught 2 tuna on hooks, saw 3 wahoo underwater. Two were shot and ripped off. Did not see any tuna.

We have the kinks worked out, so next time we should have it together. The fishing was a little slow due to the full moon, so the bait and fish were not as concentrated.

Nothing like diving 65 miles from shore in 600' of water surrounded by chum!

Also took some good grouper and lobster at 40miles.

Chris, are you shooting the SBO this year?

Yes.

Rob and Les are letting me come along - pretty sure they're just using me for my crew cab truck to ride down in - or maybe 'cause I just loaded the new GGW for my IPOD.

:D

Wish I had this hog & snapper for the SBO, though.

I was going to shoot a couple of the SBOs with them a few years back, but Les wasn't sure he could do it because he had a trade show around that time. I'm glad that you could pin him down - he's a squirrelly one when it comes to the SBO (otherwise he can make plans many months in advance). :D I still think that it was Rob telling him that I would outshoot them and make them look bad. :D

What's a GGW? Maybe I need one for my iPod.

Not having internet at the new house is like camping!
