The water is warming above fifty and I am seeing carps in numbers.
The visibility is very bad, it made spear fishing very challenging. The fish are staying deep (25 ft.) and are spooky but I managed to connect about a dozen times. Most of the fish in this lake are pretty big, here are some pictures of my two nicest.

Nice fish, congrats! Its always fun to pull the trigger on a nice size carp. The state record for carp here in Utah is 26 lb, 4 oz. Any idea whats the record for Washington?

It is an aimrite AL 90, I love this gun. It is an upgrade from JBL NW special, the jbl was all right but it lack distance and power at the end of its range. Also it was tiring to carry at ready all day due to the weight. The aimrite weights almost nothing. The visibility was around eight to ten feet where there wasn’t too much plankton (looked like daphnia’s). So with my arm haft cocked the fish were about one spear length away from muzzle. For this lake I use it with one tight band and one warp. I really don't have any experience other than shooting carp with those two guns ;) . Game fish are not legal  . I know of a different location where the water is much clearer, so I use both bands and a double warp. The fish are smaller and I almost always string those fish. The accuracy is perfect with either set up. I have learned where to shot and I rarely miss if the fish is closer than ten feet from muzzle. I will continue to practice on these carp until I get a chance to dive clear water and hunt something for dinner.

Well, the ISUA record was set by him in Utah, I am not sure why its not the Utah state record as well.

My comment was back from 2007. I certified the fish above in 2009. The DWR must have forgotten to put it in the proclamation again.
