I've heard that the basic fish finders work only when the boat is stopped

can it be true?

I'm going to buy a garmin fishfinder 90 or 120 or 140 but I see no use to buy it if it works only with the boat stopped

what do you know about that?

tks

Usually, its the installation that either makes it work when moving, or not. Just make sure you follow the instructions, and place the transducer properly - so it sees clean moving water while boat is running. If it gets propwash or is shielded by the transom, it will not work correctly whem moving. They should all work when moving

My fish finder read's at speed's up to 55MPH.This is fast as the boat will go.
I will be in your area in early June .I may stop in and make shure you are
installing the transducer in the correct location.Transduder installation is
the key to good pickup..The instruction in most of the manuals are very good.
