Okay guys, here is the next round of public hearings. Let's get out there and let them know that the recreational fishermen in Texas care about effective and responsible management of our natural resources as well as the preservation of our rights!

If you pm me your email address, I'll send you a copy of the "Draft Amendment 27 to the Reef Fishery Managment Plan and Amendment 14 to the Shrimp Fishery Management Plan" that will be discussed at the hearing.

Then I'll see you guys in Galveston! :gun:

Now there is a man with a plan! Landry's is right next door to the hotel. We can all take off work a little early that day, miss the traffic, and meet up for a quick couple of beers at the Landry's bar before the hearing starts.

Only 69 views so far?

We can do better than that! If you need a copy of the Joint Reef Fish Amendment 27/Shrimp Amendment 14 you can download it from the NMFS website, or send me a pm and will be happy to email it to you.

I've gotten pm's from guys going to the Port A meeting and a few going to Galveston. This is very importand guys. Too many of us say things like, "the NMFS lowered the limits and..." That is a passive statement with no accountability! We are an important part of the process. Don't sit back and take it! Get out there and become a part of the process! Here is a well written article that pretty much sums up my concerns.

Well, tonight is the night. I'll be the guy in the light blue plaid shirt and dockers. I've got a goatee, will be carrying around a 490 page document, and will most likely have a distasteful look on my face. Similar to that expression you get when you're on an elevator, someone farts, and you're looking around trying to figure out who to blame.

There were 6 people at the meeting last night. A CCA rep, one rec angler and me spoke. DeGraff was there as usual to run the meeting, and a statitician gave the presentation. After public comment was recorded, four other people showed up. Aparently there was a misprint in one of the papers and they initially went to the wrong hotel. That meant the Ocean Conservancy wasn't able to get on record.

Meeting summary, they have a federal court order and we are screwed.
