hi all, i am a very new member of the forum as you can see. nice place, i like it alot.
ok, so basically, i have an option to purchase a used metal tech 3 with those little floater wings (no reel though), and its roughly $100 more looking around the web for new ones comparing retail. so my option of a hardly used MT3 with a float kit for $315 seems okay, opinions? or should i get a regular MT3 and buy the float kit (if it exist) for the wings, or do they need to be factory installed? i freedive in hawaii, and i thought a MT3 would be the best all around gun for just loading with one or two bands for reef diving under 80', but perhaps i could rig it up like Iya if i decide to ever start bluewater. however, alot of people here go with "pipe guns" or euros because theyre moderately accurate and everyone here is poor. :)
so are the floaters a good idea, if i dont have a reel? i could also get a reel too i suppose. and the difference between the "standard" and the "hawaiian" models is just the shaft size and number of bands they send to you, nothing is actually different in the guns band capability, correct? i have never seen anything other than a hawaiian or tahitian so i assume i probably wouldnt need it. :)
any rigging suggestions would be appreciated, sorry for the lack of info but i had to shoot this one of quick. thanks all.

Hi Indole, welcome! 315 sounds like a good price, especially with the wings. They will help the gun be a bit positive after you shoot it. You should consider the upgraded muzzle so you have the option of adding more bands to to the gun. You might also want to consider using a breakaway line and float instead of the reel. Its safer and you can make a float and line for cheap. 100' is usually a good starting point for the length of the line.

Good luck.

thanks. so i remember folks saying alot of the mods for the metal techs have to be done inthe riffe factory, so you have to send it back. but i would think a reel would be a common upgrade, so are there already holes drilled for it? also, isnt the aluminum muzzle thingee to add more bands a self-install? advice would be appreciated, thanks alot all.

hi again, one more thing, if i add bunches of bands with the after market muzzle, is shaft whip a problem? is the enclosed track necessary for accuracy when using this amount of power? also, i know guys with railguns that put a thin layer of epoxy on the rail so its not so loud when they shoot it, i imagine this could also be a problem with an enclosed track. thanks.
