I'm in the market to buy a new gun. I've narrowed it down to either the Omer Cayman HF 110cm or the Carbon Cayman 110cm. I checked out all the specs and it seems the muzzle and handle are the same but the barrel is where the difference lies. I understand the HF is stiffer and floats better (shaft out). They both have the integral rail so that is the same. I'm leaning toward the carbon just because of the experience with corrosion at the barrel ends over time on the aluminium guns. They both use the 18mm band and both come with a match 50 reel. Currently I have a Riffe No Ka Oi that I want to ship down to St. Thomas U.S.V.I where my sister lives and leave it there so I will always have a gun there when I go down to visit. If there is anyone out there that has a preference over either gun let me know what that is. The prices are nearly identical so that is not an issue either. The only difference I can see is that possibly the aluminium gun can take more power due to the new shape. I don't know for sure as I've never had a carbon gun.

I've used both and would recommend the HF hands down especially if you are looking to shoot a 6.75-7.1mm shaft w/ 2 bands.

Hi All,
The one difference I have spotted, is that the shaft does not ride nicely on the barrel rail of the HF, whereas with the carbon, it does ride on the barrel rail.

I am not sure if it is deliberately made like this or what?
The muzzle and the handle rail sections are higher than the barrel rail section.
Cannot figure out this design feature, but then I aint a rocket scientist.
Maybe it does not matter as the rail on the muzzle is what counts ???
If so, then why have a rail on the barrel?

Perhaps this aspect has already been brought up elsewhere? If so, can someone direct me to the thread.

Thanks,
Mike.

I can see that the HF should be able to take more power because of the shape. Does it need more power? The shaft on this is already thin and light. If there is someone who owns the carbon version and would like to respond on how the gun has performed for them that would be great.
