Man, you guys been looking at the forecast. Looks like Sunday might be the first decent day!
Hope everyone had a chance to read the welcome post. This is day 1 of Spearboard, and just want to say that I am not trying to compete with any other boards. Just thought it would be a cool idea to have another board to visit, that was geared specifically at us steel slingers. Don't be shy with suggestions.
I've got no advertisers to worry about offending, so we can make this a fun place to hang out.:D

I don't think Sunday may even be good. There will be no vis anywhere except in the Middlegrounds, and the forecast is calling for 2-3 footers which might be a sloppy run in a go-fast boat. When it does lay down hopefully midweek, the people that make it out there are going to rake them in.

I hear you, but if I can get wet this Sunday, that would be a good day after the weather we've had.

I think that if its 2-4 on Sat and 2' on Sunday, which is what the forecast is, we can probably find some decent vis in 80' plus. Its been rough the past week, but nowhere near as rough as they forecasted. The 6-8's never happened. The worst it has been has been is 4-5's. Don't get me wrong, thats damn rough, but probably not enough to stir up the deep water.
Two weekends ago I dove right after some 4-5's and the vis was 15'. Enough to shoot.

Good luck with your Forum Scott. Spearfishermen sometimes get a bad rap. Topsiders think we just go down, look for fish and shoot em'. I wish it was that easy:D.
Thanks John for the heads up on this forum.
Now let's pray for good weather so we can sling some steel.

Welcome to everyone. Glad to see so many people found their way over here. Feel free to go to the suggestin forum and tell me what you'd like to see. Photos are apparently disabled at the moment, but I'll get that straight.

Dave, we'll have to start trading trips on each other's boats. I would enjoy learning more about the area North of Port Richey, including up to Bayport and your area. It would seem to me that you have a better window to get out, as some of those rock piles I have heard are relatively shallow, so accessable even in moderate wind. I'd be a little paranoid running my boat up there from Port Richey, given all the stories of people hitting rocks 5 miles from shore.

Even Sunday is calling for up to 4 footers, not to good.. I believe the Vis would be TRASH offshore anyway this week,,. I dove one week after the storm in 1985 and I actually ran into the bottom before I saw it!! and I was in 78 feet of water, so Im going to hold off until at least the following weekend.. Good luck anyone going offshore this weekend, and if you go please post Vis report.. thanks.. Capt. Jay

White Hawk is banned. I would normally put it to a vote, but I felt fairly comfortable that the members here would vote to have banned a guy who gets his rocks off by posting photos of men spreading their ass.
