I just added this to the GAT-KU site this morning. Many have been wondering if and when they would become available.

http://www.gat-ku.com/index_files/page0017.htm

Note: We have run out of our slip-tip heads this week. I'm working hard to get some done by the end of the month. If you place an order, one will be reserved for you.

Thanks,
-Dustin McIntyre

Great news, Dustin. Is the adapter made from aluminum or stainless? I will order one of each thread size for my 10 foot pole.

Great Dustin.
That is an adapter that I will have to acquire and will contact you shortly to also top up my stock of the pole spears.

I have had adapters made for the pole spear end, as shown below.

This is for my customers who are sceptical of the "parallel paralyzer" but who liked the pole spear, and wanted to fit a standard paralyzer.

Regards,
Mike

Hi,
Florida Freedivers still have several of the slip-tips in stock.

Mike.

Mike:

Why am I not surprised that you have them in stock and have even made your own adapters???? If I had have known I would have had one of your adapters by now.

Mike,
Those adapters look nice.
As for your septical customers, make sure they know that the 'parallel' prongs can always be spread apart. As some guys like to keep the prongs parallel, I usually spread them out to an inch diameter or so.

I bet most the skepticism stems from the idea that the prongs may rattle and scare away fish. In theory, this seems logical, but I have yet to hear a noise generated from ringing prongs on our polespears. Either way, they can always be spread apart.
Here are a few pics of the paralyzer detail. If you look closely, the polespear next to the octopi has tips that have been 'spread apart'.

Dustin,

I'm gonna have to order another polespear. In my noob-excitement up north at the Picasso open, I dropped mine and couldn't find it after 45 minutes of diving in the same area (think the current took it and ran).

they could try to cut some pieces of band rubber and slide them down the prongs. maybe that would "silence" them? let me know if anyone tries it and it works.

I didn't notice any problem with noise, vibration, or anything else when I was using your parallel paralyzer. The biggest thing I noticed is how hard it was to get the fish off the tip!! That tip sticks like glue.

If someone is unsure whether or not that tip works, I will loan them mine for a demo. It will make you a believer.

That sucks. . .Perhaps it would help next time to incorporate a 'knuckle loop' at the end of the band to act as a 'safety net.' I do this on all my spears so I can drop the polespear to work a fish with both hands.

Slip me a pm when you are ready to purchase. I always offer a sympathy discount for stories like these.

Thanks for responding Dustin.
No there was actually no talk from the customers about the prongs rattling.
I believe the first perception, from several customers, was how would the paralyzer hold without being spread apart and without barbs?
Some of them grasped the concept when I explained it to them.
However some thought I was just bullshitting them, and so they remained sceptical.

Mike.

It turns out, I will have some slip-tips ready by the end of this month.

Sorry for those of you who have been waiting. I had no intention of selling out of stock so quickly. All my alluminum will go to annodize in a couple weeks and I will have tips assembled the following week (fingers crossed). It's not easy being the only elf in the workshop.:D

Just know that if you order now, one will have your name on it.

dustin- i have yet to get my 9 footer in the water, but i can hardly wait. i hereby call "dibs" on a slip-tip. considering i live 5 miles from your shop, i think most folks will have a hard time contesting me (^_^) --to all considering buying a polespear from gat-ku, just do it. dustin is a great guy, he made my pole spear for me while i waited, and he's got top-notch equipment for the machining process. if he charged what these things actually would cost to produce, i can imagine it would be an astonishing figure.
thanks again for your diligent efforts in the quest to engage in battle with dinner.
pm me when they're ready for sale, and i'll be there with lots of money!!
