Hello All,

I'm fairly new to this board, and I'm glad to see that the traffic on this freediving page has picked up. I learned to spearfish in Hawaii (was stationed out there--25th ID), and have no interest in scuba.

My only problem is that in Hawaii I was able to get in the water and see fish within 30 feet of the beach. Around here, I'm stumped as to how to get some action without a boat. Hopefully I'm wrong and someone can educate me.

I live in Orlando and travel quite a bit, so I can hit either coast if that's what it takes.

At any rate, it's nice to know that freedivers are in the area, and I look forward to trading tales sometime soon.

Taylor,
Good to see another freediver. My cousin lives in Orlando and we hit the East Coast pretty hard. I'll give you a call somethime when we leave out of there. Are you out of the Army now? The only thing that I know in Orlando is the 143rd TRANSCOM, if you are there it sucks to be you. I am stationed with ARCENT in ATL right now, but I get out next spring.

Thanks for the reply, RD, and I'd love to hear from you guys when you're heading to the East Coast.

I'm out of the Army now, and transcom was never a possibility for me to begin with.

if you dont mind heading this far south you can check out palm beach freedivers websight. If you join our club it can put you intouch with several people to dive with on any given weekend.

Kevin,

Thanks for the info. I don't mind making the drive at all if it means that I can get in the water and see fish. I checked the website, and it looks pretty cool.

Couple of questions--1. is the tournament on for this weekend? 2. are there any open slots if it's still on?

Ben,

Thanks for the help. I have a small boat that probably wouldn't handle any offshore duties, but I offer it just the same. Of course, I'll pitch in on gas, fish cleanin', boat washin', beer money, or whatever it takes.

Take care.

Hey Ranger,Welcome to hell. There are very few areas close by to freedive, but manny to scuba dive within easy reach.
The frustration is that, the areas exist, but vis only coperates several times each year!
Closest spot I can think of is south Cocoa near Patric AFB on a clear day th rocks off the beach may work
Try Wabasso,or select beach spots off MELB. BEACH
Ask board member Inlet he surfs that area

Send me a PM with your guys Phone #'s. I just got back to the states today and will be able to start diving a week from today as much as possible when the conditions permit. Any day of the week. So if you are interested I'll keep your #'s and give you a call. WE hit the East coast from JAx to Stuart and Gulf Coast too, boat is in O-town. As long as Rabideath quits putting his boat up for auction we'll have boats on both coasts. Dive Free, Dive Deep, and kill everything
