Anyone have a working Loran they want to part with? The one in my boat just crapped out, and I am looking for a replacement.

Don't get your hopes up too much Chris, verifying old numbers can be tedious, and fruitful. Alot of them no longer exist, but the ones that do can be very good.

John,
I was out with GR Tarr a few weeks ago and he said that he had purchased a brand new SITEX Loran on ebay for a couple hundred bucks. I meant to look into before, but it is worth a look. The phantom loran on our Northstar sucks. It will get you into the same ocean, but that is about it.

I would look for a Furuno LC90, mostly because they will still work on them. I have 5 Sitex Lorans but they will not service them. They say they don't have the parts. The LC90's are also available "new". HWH Marine Electronics in St. Pete Beach can probably locate you one. Ask for Kevin Sherburn.

I second the Furuno LC90 either the orginal or the Mark II - I've had one on my boat and it the best repeatability of any Loran I've seen or used. They show up on Ebay from time to time expect to pay a couple hundred or so -

Hey bud, thanks, but I have had very bad luck with the handhelds. Seems like they have a hard time getting you in the right ocean.

RabiDeath.
I'm using a Northstar 951x with Phantom loran. My machine is
very accurate on the west coast.I also have a loran for
backup if I have a problem on the east coast.
