Are there any freedivers planning winter trips out to the lumps? I have read and heard too many stories to not take the plunge. Do any private guys go out, or is the weather and other conditions such that it is not really feasible to hit it that way. Regardless, I want to travel to see these Upper Gulf Areas.

They catch a ton of tuna out there in February and March. From what I've heard, there are some guys that free dive out there and shoot Tuna. They also catch a lot of sharks out there.

Al Walker of Xtreme fishing charters does free diving trips to the lump. Check on www.rodnreel.com and look for Xtreme among the fishing charters.

pm me...Im going as often as possible this winter. Big wahoo are pretty common and the tuna are starting to arrive right now. Not too interested in the lump anymore unless it is a "clean water" day...too many sharks and not enough vis...but there is great hunting to be had nearby. However, when the lumps are "on" the tuna swim around the boat:eek: Otta be full tilt after thanksgiving.
