Newbie in Newport Beach

I'm the newbie on the block in Newport and I'm looking to hook up with anyone who is willing to show me some tricks of the trade in the OC area. I did a trip this summer to Florida and Bimini Island for fishing and fun and ended up spear fishing for the first time. After that I got hooked on the experience of the hunt because I've fished all of my life and this is a new world to me. Like the newbie that I am I went out and bought all the gear except for a gun. I have a pole spear for now but want more experience before I purchase a gun. I've only gone twice in Laguna (beach dive) and I need a buddy as it is not safe to go alone. I also have a kayak to get to better spots if need be. I'll buy food/drinks, pitch in for gas and scrub down your boat for some guidance lessons.

Not sure if your just looking for guys with a boat for boat dives, but I'm also very new to the sport and in the Newport beach area. Most of my dives are in OC and from the shore.

I have all my gear and a couple of guns, but have only done several shore dives, I have shot a few fish, but I'll be the first to say they look bigger underwater than they really are so they are not worth mentioning. If you don't mind diving with another newbie from the shore PM me your contact info. I may try and get a used kayak also if I can find a good deal since I don't own a boat.
