Carson,
Go over to the freediving forum www.deeperblue.net and be prepared to ask specific questions on what and how you want to improve. The site is full of very accomplished amteur and professional apneists.

Carson, another option is to take a course. Check out this thread from today;

The course they are discussing is located at:

Another source of information is Terry Maas' book Freedive. Great explanation of the dangers and prevention of shallow water blackout.
Give your thread another couple days of view time. I bet you money some of the HOU freedivers will contact you to go out to train with them in person. Get the most experienced person you can find, and be a sponge with the info. If you get the heebie jeebies about them not being safe, get someone else. Good luck. I"d help, but live in Austin. If you want to train with me at Lake Travis, send me a PM.

In houston this week. If you have a boat that can run way the hell offshore to the Blue water and Tuna's I'll help you out.
Was diving yesterday morning 80ft + picking and choosing our limit of Red Snappers up to 22lbs while 5 Scuba guys came up with 1 sheepshead....
Freediving has its advantages.
Good luck

All the best, Tony :)Echo, Tony. I was on a rig when Cameron showed up, I did not know who it was but you should have SEEN it...I was at 65' looking down at him. If I'd known, I'd have skipped my hunt and just hung out at 40' watching the show.

Try and shoot for late July/early August. We'll get some folks together. Look forward to meeting Matt. We could use a few more freedivers around here.
Oh and Carson, I wasn't ignoring your request. I only started freediving this year and don't feel qualified to teach you much of anything you can't read in the books. This year so far I've only managed to hunt the upper 40'. Even that has put plenty of fish in the freezer.

Yeah, guys, this is Matt. I'm down to dive every weekend, so give me a shout anytime. I even want to go this weekend. I think my hangover from Cam and I's nite out last night should subside by tomorrow. I'll help with fuel and ice, whatever, I just want to get in the water.
