Hey all. Im interested in peoples experience in predicting visibility. I now the common one of bad vis after heavy rain, and even more importantly probably, wind greater than 10 mph from sea. But, this weekend, I went out and it hasn't rained all week in south jersy, nor was there much wind this day (sat. on cape may). Yet the water was terrible (like 3 ft). Was I wondering if there are other factors im missing (as regards to weather and predicting vis.)

Also, what are peoples average last date before the water temp is just too cold to dive.

Thanks. I usually hang up the wet suit when I had to head back to school, but now im free to dive on weekends right into the striper season. Anyone else diving into nov. ?

Hey, another jersey diver Viz is pretty unpredictable her. To tell you the truth many times the spearfishing was within the length of the gun! however, I have had days of 30 ft and took 19 species of fish off Deal New Jersey. I see you are from Mt Laurel, we are your neighbors, we live in medford lakes, if you areinterested, glad to get together.

Hey guys im a noobie too and went out for the first time to asbury park and the vis was pretty bad with huge swells.....But im deff going to keep spearing well into Nov.....the stripers are just starting to show up here and there but the proper euqipment from the cold is a must....I just ordered a 5mm spearfishing suit that will hold me over for the cold waters here in Jersey......and im waiting for my custom hybrid gun from steve at poseidansub.com.....If you guys are looking to add one more to your party im down.........

when the water temps rise up past 70 degrees you can count on the bloom.....and then the water sucks. last time it was really clear in cape may was the second week of June.....i think the water was 62 and vis was probably 12-14 feet. since then it's been pretty bad...the water got up to almost 77. once the water gets back down to the mid 60's it should clear up. all we need for that is a good wind from the west for a few days or some freak weather to bring something in.

I go to cape may about twice a month. Saying the last clear day was about mid jun seems right to me. The last month though has been really bad (I think just my luck though).

Hey Joselisa, It would be great to meet some neighbor spearos. When and where do you normally fish? Drop me a line whenever, and we could meet up.

Spearman21. The farthest north I typically go is Long beach island. You could def. meet people there, since it can get crowded on weekends. If you ever come further south post and see if anyones up. Also, if your in north jersey, you should def. check out long island NY. it has some great shore dives.
By the way, from what I've heard and seen, poseidansub's are increadable guns. Are you going for like a mojostick style? Definitly, cool gun. Let use know how it shoots ect.

i love the length of my Omer 75 for tog fishing.....cool thing is that the 50" mojo is the same length grip to tip as my omer....so i can still move it around just as well. and it has TONS more power!!!

i'm really looking foward to hooking that beast up to my floatline and getting it out after some stripers!!!!

19 species sounds made up unless you are shooting sundials, spearing, cunners, sea robins, bunker, butterfish, butterflyfish, oyster toadfish, northern sennets, spider crabs, calico crabs, blue crabs, baby sea bass, bay anchovies, in addition to the fish that possibly exist in deal - blues, bass, tog, fluke, kingfish, scup.

If you guys are down for spearing Barnegat Inlet and the surrounding area next weekend (26th - 28th), I'm down. Can't do November, but almost of the whole week of Xmas I'll be back up around LBI and I'll have a new Picasso Termic 9mm suit with 7mm gloves and socks, so I'll be ready for peak striper season if anyone else is down.
