It all goes back to Safety!

Did anyone catch the latest "Bryant Gumbel-Inside Sports" on HBO? They did quite a big report on Pipin and his lack of safety measures taken during his world record dive attempts. They pretty much state it was this lack of safety that killed Audrey.

Take this into account:
There were no doctors on board the boat she made her dive from. There was no emergency vehicles standing by on shore. They didn't even have O2. (At least they didnt administer it to Audrey from what I could see in the video). They was such a lack of emergency equip. they had to carry Audrey in a plastic chaise lounge from the boat that rushed her ashore to the little hotel clinic. (HOTEL CLINIC??WTF?) No Ambulance, nothing!

The only reason she died was that the pony bottle used to inflate the lift bag to rocket her to the surface was EMPTY! Pipin even admitted it was his responsibility to check the pony bottle.

Audrey's entire dive was videoed, which was shown in the report. You could just see what was going through her mind when she turned the valve on the pony and nothing happened.

The overall report made Pipin look completely unsafe and I would tend to agree.

Sometimes it is easy to become overconfident when you rise to the top of a profession. You can take it for granted that things are not likely to go wrong and you fail to take due precautions. It can happen to the best of us. Hopefully, another hard lesson learned. Tragedy has no bias!

Even his best friend asked him like 3 times if he filled the tank and he said he did, then claimed that no one asked him that afterward. It doesnt look good for his sake and since it took place in the Dominican, the only investigation determined that she drowned.
