As a newbie spearo with only 5-months, maybe 40 or so dives, of shooting under my belt it was time for something with more range and punch. So one of my hunting bros made me an offer I couldn't refuse, his Riffe Standard 3.
Just picked it up and gave it a nice sanding today. I wasn't going to pull the trigger on a better deathstick for a few weeks, but some one came along and made me an offer on my Biller 48, so there it is.
I think I may have to jump in the water for two quick dives on saturday. I have to keep it sane though, I have a 5:30 weddiing to attend.
I'll figure out how to mount the laser a little later, no time this week.

might be a good thing to replace the bands if they are questionable. nothing worse than pulling back and hearing snap.
good luck looks like it should kill lots of fish

Laser...what laser? I am a newbie too and was thinking about a laser although i haven't heard anything about it so i was thinking not possible? I did get a underwater laser with alum housing just to try it in the water(haven't yet). No idea about mounting it though.

The bands will be gone in a dive or two.
Yes, teak oil! Teak, nothing changes. Teak oil is good! No linseed oil here! Linseed oil bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless you like a black gun?:thumps:
THX guys. Range is everything-------->:gun:

Just a question, what is hanging on the rear of the gun?

Hey I know that gun....I almost bought it myself before I decided on the wong. That's a great gun and shoots very well. Taken good care of too. I am sure you will like it much better than your old gun.

Just a question, what is hanging on the rear of the gun?

Stringer and Safety sausage.

Tomorrow is the trial run. I didn't have time to hit it with the Riffe #2 oil, so I used the #1. Sure looks near to new!!!
Have a wedding at 5:30 so it will be a 2-tank quickie on JDC's Republic.
LOOK OUT FISH HERE I COME!!!:gun:

You'll get some nice range with that. The wrap system is going to be quite different from the Biller. Can't see the tip in the photo. Slip-tip?

John, it's a double-flopper.
Ofer, laser is from www.genaldi.com and it is sweet!!! 20-30 ft. of range.
Heading out in a few minutes for the sea trials, seas look real shaky this morning though. Should be quiet on the surface.:thumps:
Here grouper, grouper, grouper!!! Here boy!!!:cowboy:

I should have put the new bands on before the 1st drop!!!
Gun shot low so I went 0 for 3, one was a nice gag that I guessed right on his exit route. :stupid:
They are on it now!!!:(
