well with the amount of interest this perked i figured i'd throw this up and get it going.....let's have a comp series...the mid atlantic vs. north atlantic .....the soon to be classic NORTHEASTERN SPEARO SMACKDOWN :gun:
we'll need to come up with some basic rules....nothing too difficult. aside from someone to help with scales this should be an "honor system" comp. we'll keep it easy going....so it's fun. it's a casual get together...that way we don't have to worry about legalities and all that BS. just show up and see who's better.....it's ALL ABOUT BRAGGIN RIGHTS!!!!!! HAHA
we'll need to figure out the best times to do this in each location. and we will not limit where you can go....but you will be required to get back to a check/weigh in. if the fish doesn't get on the scales...it doesn't count. this means that if some guys want to run out to the block...they can....they just need to be back in time to weigh in.
for NJ there's the early season...or possibly sometime this winter..which is good for viz. it would be best if we could do it while NJ still has high limits for Tog....and striper are still around. sometime in November might be good.
then we can try to hit up the north sometime early season or mid summer when the stripers are up there. but i'm not up to speed on that area....so someone from up north will have to take the wheel and throw around some ideas.
no set number of people.....we take the average weight of the catch....so if you have 10 guys from NJ that each caught 10lbs worth.....the score would be 10. or if you had one guy from up north with a 20lb fish......the average for the north would be 20. that way we don't have to worry about having equal teams. this way anyone can show up and represent!!!! as far as fish go....if it's within season and legal size it counts.
it's all about quality of the spearo...not the quantity of guys in the water!
we'll have to set up two dates.....so chime in people and suggest some different times and we'll decide on something. the guys from the north do the same and we'll get it together :)
oh yeah.....losers buy the beer :toast:
