Here is the Middlegrounds closure/Grays reef connection!

This Sustainable Seas Expeditions (SSE) mission was to explore the Middle Grounds of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico in the Big Bend area of the Panhandle. Sylvia, in collaboration with Walt Jaap of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in St. Petersburg, wanted to explore the formations in that area. The ultimate goal is to protect it from commercial and recreational fishing by making it a marine reserve.

Hell yeah. THey're trying to take spearfishing away as a first step to eliminating it all. They've thought they can pick on a little area in the south where probably there is little spearfishing and get away with it. Then a government diver with a camera will come along and take a picture of a bunch of fish and say, "look at what eliminating spearfishing does for a reef "and BOOM, everyone's out of luck, they'll ban it everywhere with NO SCIENTIFIC DATA!! Write these people now!!

I may not have explained this well.

Cathy Sakas is a Marine Educator for Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary. She wrote the THIS ARTICLE (http://www.skio.peachnet.edu/scenes/scenes/greys_reef.html) about the ultimate goal of closing the florida middlegrounds to protect it from commercial and recreational fishing by making it a marine reserve. Same person that is working towards this Grays Reef spearfishing ban!

Grays reef is a stepping stone.

If that doesn't scare you into sending a letter to Charlestondivin to support us on the Gray's Reef issue your just hopeless and need to get used to watching football on the weekends instead of Spearfishing.

65 Letters of support so far from a user base of over 1000 on Spearboard.......

Satellites don't care how far offshore the Middle Grounds is!
