I sent my letter and asked for other ways to help. I haven't gotten any response. Sorry but I don't think the council is having any meetings here in Texas or Louisiana.

I wish that y'all (I realize that this is a very general term but i don't have time to track down the names of all who fall in this category) would learn that barking at people is not the way to go. I've seen people campaign for middle school president more effectively than the way this is being managed. For the most part, the people who read and contribute to this section are willing to help and have offered assistance in the past.

The people that you need to be contacting are those people that are spearfisherman but don't regularly check this board. They can't respond to your message unless they see it. There are 17 members online right now and 28 guests. The most ever online at one time was 108. Figure out a way to reach the spearboard members who don't regularly check the posts.

There are tons of other things that could be done. It sounds like we have lots of intelligent, competent members on this board and someone could take ownership to coordinate the efforts of the members. But so far all I've seen is a plea for letter-writing and lots of bitching about the lack of letters. You're preaching to the choir!!!

I know a few NOAA big dogs here in LA who will be getting an ear full.

I too, am disappointed by the response. We need to find a way to motivate the members into action. I suggest a personal PM and email.

Check with the board moderators and see if it would be OK to send emails to all board members with specific instructions regarding who to call and write. Include a few sample letters that hit the important points.

Also, design a flyer to be displayed at local dive shops. We have members everwhere who can get them up. This flyer should be something that will catch attention and include email addresses and phone numbers of the officials who will be making these decisions.
