got my kid, and my partner is hanging, so we may not get a chance to go out today... but I snapped some pix... this is about 10minutes away from my doorstep :D

as you can see in the pix with the boat 200yards offshore it's 400+feet deep. I was trolling with the wifes uncle on the way out to the buoy and his fish finder has depths it's in fathoms on one side and feet on the other... that's the ono lane where wahoo are for those that aren't familiar with hawaiian terms lol. it gets very deep very fast, my dad has hooked 100lb YFT within rock throwing range of shore in the ono lane as well as ono and mahi get hooked pretty much every day. not too many people dive the ono lane because it pisses off the guys trolling... but it can be done with a boat or two to block on coming traffic :D couple of 3'x5' divers down flags don't hurt...
in the pix where you can see the mountain in the background that's vog not smog... vog = volcanic smoke from the volcano that's active and always flowing since like the 1980s. I'm hoping to get a chance to go out today and get some pix of landed fish :D but we'll see... if I get my partner sobered up and his wife to watch my kid it'll be a good time to go, water is flat. I've actually never dove that close to home. I usually drive to a few other spots I prefer but along the reef/lava rock ledges in the pix ulua/trevally can be caught... I'm not a good diver though so prefer easy fish :rofl:
