Steel Faber 121 cu.ft. tank
diameter = 8" length = 29 " weight = 45 lbs.
buoyancy in salt water empty = neutral; full = -9

Is this Faber as good as the PST E series

I can get these easily but don't know much about them

The comparable E series tank would be the E8 149

It is 29.37" tall weighs 47.5 lbs empty is -1.8 full is -12.9

I have several PST HP 120's and Several OMS (Faber) LP121's and 125's.

I prefer the OMS tanks, they are lighter than the comparable PST tanks and have better buoyancy characteristics.

Either tank you go with will be a good one though.

I think the Faber tanks get light in the bottom (too) early in the dive making it hard to stay trimmed correctly. The PST tanks seem to stay relatively level when going from full to empty.

I also like the OMS Fabers. The regular Fabers are rust magnets tho.

How can I tell the difference between the regular Fabers and the OMS Faber?

Faber makes tanks that it sells under its own name and also makes tanks for OMS to OMS's higher specs which are sold under the OMS name. The OMS tanks are generally painted a matte grey while the Faber tanks are painted a flat white. The OMS tanks also have an internal finish that retards rust and generally come with a convertible valve which allows you to use the tanks with either a DIN or a yoke regulator. The OMS tanks have a service life of 10,000 fills to 4,000 PSI although their CFT rating is determined with the tanks only filled to 2,640 PSI (110% of 2,400 PSI); that is why you can get about 50% more than the stated CFT when you pump them up to 3,800-4,000 PSI as many shops will do. See the OMS tank specs at: http://www.omsdive.com/cyl_spec.html

Hope this helps.

So it sounds like the OMS tank is a good one and I should shy away from the Faber flat white which is what I have access to.

I have mostly OMS LP 121's and 125's and 1 Faber lp120.

I have never had a problem with the Faber LP 120.

The OMS tanks will have their name on them.

How much are you paying for the Faber Tanks?

Mpick, you might want to check this price.

I just picked up 2 of the LP121's and they are brand new in the box with hydros that are only 6 months old. Took about 6 business days after ordering them for arrival at my door.

And no shipping charges. I'd highly recommend this place for tanks.
