Never been to Sweden, but while I was in Norway everyone from other Scandinavian countries said everyone goes to Norway, because the diving is not great in their home country (Finland, Denmark...) and the diving in Norway is great (lots of fish too). Of course there were no Swedish competitors as I recall.
Like any place, I think it depends upon where you go in Sweden (North Sea vs. Baltic Sea). The guys from Finland said the Baltic is very murky. I think the great videos from Norway are on the Norwegian Sea (North Atlantic) side, not in the North Sea or further east near Sweden.
Not sure if this helps at all, but let us know when you get back!:D

I'm heading to Stockholm the later part of June so I'd be interested in hearing about diving in Sweden

I'm afraid that spearfishing is prohibited in Sweden, if nothing has changed since I read this:
http://forums.deeperblue.com/beginner-hunting/82511-spearfishing-sweden.html
And from what I've heard you also risk your spearguns to be confiscated in Sweden.
Go spearing to Norway, Denmark or Finland while in the Scandinavic area.

Spearfishing is not allowed in Sweden. It is allowed in Denmark and Norway and the conditions are much better, and both have spearfishing clubs, etc.

Also, I'm with Smudge...I'm a wuss!
I live in Norway and as a few others have said, spearfishing is illegal in Sweden. Some parts of Norway are very good for spearfishing, but the Oslo fjord is not one of them.

The fish pictured are plaice or flounder, definitely not halibut. Decent sized ones (legal) are very uncommon in southern Norway.
