Maui 1/1

I am heading to Maui 1/1 and was wondering if anyone here has been to Wailea for spearfishing? I will be bringing my speargun with me. Any advice?

hey trip: yeah, there is spearfishing all around the south side of the island. wailea and makena area. write me a day or two before you come, maybe we can hook up for a dive, or at least I'll point you in the right direction. If you dont know anyone here in the area, may want to consider bringing a dive float and flag/tag line set up. Its the law over here and the fine can be pricey!! aloha, sl
ps; bring a thin wetsuit and any other dive equip. you need on any dive, knife etc... I usually pack all my equipment (except my float and tag line) in a snowboard travel bag when I go to the mainland. It all fits and my travel bag has straps which turns into a backpack which makes life easy when hiking to the dive spot.
