Has anyone had the plastic muzzle on a Riffe break off? I shot a Lemon the other week (MT2, 3 bands) and when I got the fish strung up, I started to reload and noticed the muzzle and obviously the bands were gone. I was using a riding rig. I went to the shop where I bought the gun and was told that they have no warranty. I wonder if the aluminum muzzle was made because this has happened in the past. The owner of the shop says that 3 people have ahd the same thing happen over this past summer. Luckily I keep my two JBL's in the boat for just such an occasion. Just a little warning, as this has cost me upwards of $100 on top of the extra money spent to buy a "quality" gun like the Riffe in the first place. I will be buying JBL from now on.

Riffes are great guns and are supposed to have a 3 year waranty. You may want to contact riffe. Go on to the website to get Julie riffes email or thier customer service email. Im sure they will be more than happy to replace your muzzle. The aluminum muzzle was created to acomodate 4 or more bands by increasing the size of the opeining. THe stock muzzle should be able to handle 3 bands.
As for JBLs I have one and dont use it at all. it sits in my room collecting dust. It makes to much noise and you just cant trust the trigger mechanism.
I use my omer excaliber and my riffe over my jbl anyday.
But Please try to contact riffe as soon as possble. Im sure they will help you.

I contacted Julie Riffe through E-mail and have not received a reply. JBL does have its problems, but they also only cost half as much. When I pay for a Riffe, I expect a better product and some service.

Can't complain about Riffe's service or warrantees. I accidentally drove over my cousins Hawaiian with the prop and completely mutilated the front of it. Anyway, I saw it last month and they sent him a brand new one. I was completely at fault, but they still replaced it. When they get you a new muzzle, and they will, look into the enclosed track. It costs like $30 and makes a huge difference. Very easy to install: pull out the old one and put in the new...

Thank you for posting your concern about your muzzle breaking on your RIFFE Metal Tech speargun. The only reported muzzles cracking or breaking were from two divers and their muzzles have been replaced under Riffe's warranty.
All Riffe parts excluding spearshaft, bands, line and tips have a 1-YEAR MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. I apologize for our dealer misinforming you on our warranty program. We have contacted them regarding this matter.
All speargun stocks and trigger mechanisms have a 3-YEAR WARRANTY. Wood stocks against warping and aluminum stocks against leakage.
Please check your personal email reply to receive your replacement part.
Thank you for choosing RIFFE.
Regards,
Julie Riffe

As you all have read, Riffe does make good and take care of their customers. Thanks to Julie for helping me with my problem, I was misinformed by the dealer. Thanks again.

Clint:
I have upgraded a couple of my customer's MT3s with the Aluminum muzzle and they are quite happy with it. The additional bands come in handy when they are blue water hunting. Rabideath has a good point about the enclosed track as well, I orderd all my MTs with the track. Shoot straight, shoot hard, never lose a fish!
Good hunting,
Brian

Sharkbait,
I don't know if the enclosed track will work with the way we rig our guns here for rig diving. I upgraded to the aluminum muzzle and am going to pick it up some time this week. I hope we can get a day or two to get some diving in soon. I am going through withdrawls right now.

NOLA Hunter:
The enclosed track will work regardless of the line or float configuration. The purpose of the track is two fold, to keep the free shaft in place when the gun is not cocked, and to maintain alignment of the shaft when being shot. When you get a chance, just stop by your local dealer and see one that has been installed.

Julie,
I have the same problem. The muzzle on my MT-2 cracked at the base. Cameron was supposed to be in Orlando last weekend and said he could fix it but never contacted me.

I'm glad to see the spearboard troll is still lurking about! Do you have to post on every thread? Are you a moderator?.....NO! Who cares when the last post was? Maybe someone would like to bring an old thread back to highlight an issue that is important to them. Isn't the purpose of this forum to share information and learn things? Why don't you keep these pointless comments to yourself. This is the second time in the last month that you've pointed out to a SB user how old a thread is. Get off the computer and go shoot some fish!
Oh yeah, btw-
I like my rubbermaid trash can gun rack so much, I thought I would make a special trip from Guam to Cali to try to bring it on your boat!....Not!

This is a good example of why there should always be a 'pelaj thread' going on this board. It gives anybody who's in this sort of mood a good place to dump.

He seemed to be addressing Julie, so I thought he might want to know that Julie just might not be following the thread. Sorry if that offends you.
I've actually gone diving more than ever this summer, but since Aug 7 I've been down with a bone contusion on my ankle. However, I'll do my best to get out during the next week if it keeps improving. Meanwhile, just do a search for threads started by me in the CA section and entertain yourself looking at fish photos.

Aw shucks. I was really looking forward to diving with you too. Oh well.
Sorry if I insulted your Rubbermaid trash can. I had no idea you were so close to it.

Bill-
I'm not offended at all.
I agree that there are better ways to get Julie's attention than posting on a thread that is 5 years old. Nevertheless, by posting on an old thread, it becomes new again and shows up on the board; thats how these online forums work. It got your attention didn't it...lol
I was not questioning how much diving you have done this summer, just suggesting that you get out and do some more instead of leaving more troll posts like the one on this thread.
Bummer about the ankle, hope it gets better soon.
It wasn't that you insulted my rubbermaid trash can (I'm really not that close to it), but you again derailed another thread in which someone had specifically asked about the trash can gun holder (for their boat) and made it about your boat and not bringing them on board. I just wanted to let you know that not everyone on this board wants to go diving on your boat.
I do appreciate all the time you take on this board. I have learned a lot from your other posts and comments and the photos of your gear and rigging, etc...Keep that stuff coming!

Call Jay Riffe yourself with the serial number on the gun. I have had him replace under warranty the muzzle and the lost bands for the gun owner.
