Have any of ya'll seen theese custom Hawaiian slings that somebody builds, he's from Hawaiiansling.net or .com or something? They are made of epoxy, kind of work like a bow and arrow. I have one back home, but I cannot find the site.

Hi DD,
Is the sling below is the one you are referring too?
We have one or two still in the store.
I have not spoken to the manufacturer for awhile and hope he is still in the business.

Regards,
Mike.

Nothing better on the market. I've put a shaft through 35+lb fish at 15-20 feet with the monkey strength band. No other sling will give you that kind of range and power.

yeah that sling is a beast, way more powerfeull and accurate than anything else on the market. I have one and it isnt warped but i have heard of that happening.

I own one. It kicks ass and feels natural to hold while cocked and aiming

ok, is this a freeshafting device or can a line be affixed to the shaft?

i supose a line could be attacthed but it would be tricky to do with out creating drag on the spear. I know there has been a few discussions about lines on a normal sling so i dont see why it couldnt work on this one.

Wow I've been thinking of something almost like this but was thinking along the lines of a wrist rocket sling shot body with the Hawaiian sling between the prongs. Give you more support to the wrist and better aimming sight :thumps: What do you think

Damm Ray, that is a pretty cool product. Mike's shop is a few blocks from my house. I will have to stop by and check it out. Nice work! Tony

You don't need any wrist support when you shoot it. It's just like shooting a bow. You can leave your front hand open when you draw it back. A sling shot only pulls from the top. This pulls evenly from the top and bottom so no torque.

how is that used?do you hold the spear and shaft with 3 fingers like a bow,is the shaft notched ,could you use one of those handles / they use to pull back bow strings ? im really intrested in that thing

I've owned one for a few years now.

The band has a small, aluminum cup fixed to it. The shaft fits into that cup. Then you grab a handful of spear/cup/and band. Pull it all back and let 'er rip. The other testimonials are spot on re: no wrist torque. You can actually leave your left hand open when it is cocked back (like a bow). No forearm stength is required to fire it. It wedges right in between your index finger and thumb.

what makes this sling so much better than a normal hawiian sling? is it because the band goes all the way around the sling? I have been thinking about getting one ,but cant deside what to do?
Thanks

I don't think it is "better" than a regular sling. It is a little easier on the wrist, and maybe a bit easier for a beginner. But, if you are well-seasoned using a standard sling, then I don't see a big reason for getting one of these. I think it "fires" a bit differently; so it is better to stick with one or the other. I miss more fish by switching back and forth than I do using the same sling for a whole day/trip.

All of my advice should probably be taken with a grain of salt, however, since I almost always grab for the polespear anyway.
