Seeing the photos and reading the thread on Sherri, Bucket, Mr. Wong, etc. with their amazing tuna trip is making me think this is something I want to try off Cape Canaveral next year.

Most people doing blue water shooting seem to always attach to a float they pull with them. What I am thinking of doing is using the boat as my float. It seems like you could attach a line from a cleat on the boat to the shaft or even the handle of the gun. As long as you have someone on the boat tending the line to keep you from getting tangled, is there any reason this wouldn't work?

way 2 much drag, you won't be able to move around freely, one thing that would work better would be several boat fenders filled with high density foam. It is important to have a shock absorber. the boat wouldn't give at all if it were used as a float therefore making it more likely it will tare off.
not much
but a start....
hope it helps a bit
