The Tampa Bay Spearfishing Club's 2008 Winter Invitational Spearfishing Tournament is just a few weeks away and is scheduled for March 22, 2008. The tournament is to be held at The Fort Desoto Boat Ramp (Saint Petersburg) Florida. Everyone is invited to participate. There is a discount and tournament t-shirt for early registration. Last years tournament raised almost $1,000 for the FRA and Ocean Pals and this years goal is to doubble those donations to divers rights groups. This is a combination big fish and aggragate style tournament. Last years prize table was stacked with over $8,000 in prizes which were randomly given out to the shooters. These prizes are given out randomly to all participants in a random drawing, not by how well you shoot. In fact, last year the second to the last place finisher received a brand new atomic regulator.
To find out more about this tournament go to www.tampabayspearfishingclub.org or call Aquatic Obsessions Dive Shop at 727-344-DIVE.

Thanks GR!

As we discussed, I set this up in its own section like last year and left a re-direct from the Gulf Coast section.

Bill Hardman is a good dude at Aquatic Obsessions and I hear really good things about this tournament.:cool:

Good Luck! Tony

7. Mandatory Diver’s Check In: Every participant should be at the “Diver’s Check In” meeting; however, at least one Representative Diver from each boat must be at the “Diver’s Check In” meeting (to represent himself and those on his/her boat) to pick up mystery tickets, get any last minute rule changes, get the official tournament time and get any entry paperwork. The confirmation number is required to pick up an Early Registered participants paperwork at the “Diver’s Check In.” This “Diver’s Check In” will start at 7:00pm on March 21st and end with the beginning of the mandatory Captain’s Meeting.
8. Captain’s Meeting starts at approximately 8:30pm.
The Late Registration, the Diver’s Check In and the Captains Meeting will all be held from 7:00 to 8:30pm on Friday March 21st. This meeting will be held at: Aquatic Obsessions Scuba, 6193 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg, Florida 33710. Click for map or call (727) 344-DIVE (3483).

In case you all were wondering what the Largest Grouper looked like, here it is. I was spearing with Team Diversion in the lower MG. Yes we went all the way out there! Vis was an awsome 50'! This was a great time out there. I wish the sun would have been out a lot more. This fire truck went 30" and 15.4lbs gutted. Will

Nice work Will! :toast:

That is a beautiful red grouper and the water behind you looks great after the blow last week. I see you went for the viz way out. Sounds like the bet paid off. Congratulations! Tony

Our team had a great trip, the vis was awesome, seas were almost flat and we didn't get any of the bad weather. It started sprinkling when we headed to the hill. Congrats to Charlie and Brandon on their placement! Got my PB AJ on the trip as well. We saw some sort of a whale out there. I like those tourneys better than the big fish tournament.

Hey Gunny, Someone at the weigh in was telling me and Charlie it was probably a Sunfish. I think it was Richie Zacker telling us that...

Deffinatly a good day for Team Spearing Magazine, it was my first AJ as well as Charlie's. Mine and Charlie first spearing tournament as well. Charlie came in 2nd and I got 5th place. Not a bad day in my book at all...
