Although I have been spear fishing for several years I am very new to this forum. After I had been spearfishing for about 5 years I had the privilage for becoming friends with a much more experienced diver. I am a big fan of learning from the masters. I try not to have an ego, or think I know what I am doing. I try to watch what they are doing, ask why they are doing it and learn from what I see works for them.
That was a long preface for this. The guys I dive with use H-valves. our octopus we have attached to a redundant first stage attached to the other valve. This protects you incase your first stage blows out (which my buddy has had happen). With this setup you have an almost completely redundant system. The only thing you don't have a backup for is your actual tank. This redundancy comes without the added hassle of carrying a pony bottle.
Does anyone else use this system? What are your thoughts.
