Noticed this if any one is interested on ebay for $350/buy it now.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dllViewItem&item=1981668272

Located in Winter Haven, supposed to only have been used once, and he didn't like spearfishing????

"This auction is for ONE SPEARFISHING SPECIALTIES COMMERCIAL SPEARGUN. I ONLY USED THIS GUN ONCE AND DECIDED THAT SPEARFISHING WAS NOT FOR ME. I DID NOT EVEN SPEAR ANY FISH WITH IT."

Not sure what he was doing underwater with it, if he didn't even spear any fish....

Looks like a good deal. I don’t buy the story either; who goes out, buys a top of the line speargun, dives with it ONCE and decides he doesn’t like spearfishing? Did he turn gay because he didn’t get laid on his first date, too?!?

For anyone who’s interested in buying this, ask him if he’s including any shafts with it. He doesn’t mention any in the listing.

Enjoy, figured if anyone was going to get a deal, it should be a spearboard member. Hope it's what they promised, you can send my commission anytime.

Funny thing is. I had an automatic search set up looking for any auctions with the words "spearfishing specialities" and this didn't come up.

I owe ya a beer Rusty!!:D

Wait a minute, I emailed you as soon as I saw Rusty’s post. I think you owe me a beer, too!!!

Only if your wife lets you out of the house to drink it.

Anyway, I was reading this post way before you sent your email. It's slow today. Ask D4B. I found the cool spicoli pic he's using as an avatar.:D

Make sure your "search" checks the content of the listing, not just the "title", also, people sometimes misspell things in the listing, so check "speargun", and "spear gun", etc.

Oh, yea, if it's a good deal, it won't last...

By the way, that "Iron Wood", is heavy

richhermes
12-12-2002, 01:19 PM
"Iron wood" I'm guessing is another word for Teak.

It's not the paulope wood is it??

rusty
12-12-2002, 01:54 PM
I don't think it's teak, but it may be paulope. I'm sure Spear One knows the answer......

I just PM'ed Kevin

The guy that sold it is showing the teak SS comm slinginsteel link in his auction, so I would guess it's teak

When I saw Rusty's post this morning, I knew that Gun wouldn't last long. That's a damn good deal. I almost bought it myself, but I've already got a 52 Rhino.

Even if it is Paulope, you can handle the weight. Only sissies complain about the weight Right, Scott? :D

Here's a little message (http://www.fishingworks.com/Users/UserFolders/f94gator/PhotoImages/BigCup111_1.jpg) for you, Paul! :)

Go play with your dogs,

I second Scott's message. I wanted a rhino too, but now I won't get mine confused with John's and every other rhino. Since it seems the most popular.:D

It is probably Paulope!

Just got an email from the seller. It is indeed paulope.

Forgive my ignorance but what does a 52 ss usually cost? And who sells em online. There are no SS dealers anywhere near here.
You guys have me re-thinking my current gear situation. I mean if screen name is shooting one its got to be the shiznit. :)

Rich,

Like I told Paul when I sold him my Paulope, that thing shoots straight as an arrow. A big benefit is that even if you don't put a spare shaft on it, it will not float when the shaft is deployed. It's a dense, heavy wood. Mine shot great, but I had two guns. Personally, I would NOT carry a spare shaft on that gun. If you want a spare shaft with you on the dive, Spear One gave me some good advice: Attach it to the jug line by place a nut of the correct diameter at the bottom near the lead, and slide it through allow the barb to keep it from sliding out. If you don't need it, retrieve from the boat.

Chas,

You may want to ask Spear One if he has any reps in SC. he could probably steer you in the right direction.

You have a PM, BTW

I was planning on going with 2 shafts just to see what the weight was like, then just switching to 1 if it was indeed to heavy. I like the idea of putting the spare on the jug line, though.

Either way, Scott's a sissy.:D

This gun is Brand Friggin' new.
John came with me when we met the guy. Just picked it up today.

If those are the original bands, that thing may have never been fired. That black band hasn't even been loaded. I don't see any spurs on the wire. Looks great. For $350, you scored.

Congatulations!

Oh, by the way, nice carpet too!:D

richhermes
12-15-2002, 07:44 PM
Glad ya noticed the carpet Screen Name!
I just shampooed it with John's Bissell Heatmaster 2000, or whatever you call that thing. :D

Scott, The previous owner cocked the gun once and that was it. Never shot a thing with it. There is still that powder stuff on the bands.

I just wish the spare shaft holder was on the other side of the gun. From what Kevin was saying at the last seminar, it would be easier to switch shafts if the holder was on the inside of the gun while you hold it.
Dammit for being left handed!

Yeah, the weenie complained that he could not pull the bands back. I think he was going to get fitted for his dress with the money Rich gave him.

Yeah. Freakin' sally!!

rusty

Glad it worked out. Good idea to pick it up personally. I'm sure the shaft holder can be moved to the other side.

Yeah it can but then you have exposed drilled screw holes where it used to be mounted. I think I'm leaving it as is.

But what I do in a case like that is countersink the hole and plug it with a screw. It looks kind of cool, like it belongs. Honest. How come we don't have an honest smiley?

Kevin may know if they make Paulope plastic wood.:D
