So here I am sitting around bored, no one to dive with and the water's still pretty cold-frozen actually. I was trying not to think about my upcoming trip to the Gulf, but I finally gave in.
I built this flasher to travel with and it has some improvements over my last ones. It is all made with stuff I had laying around the house. I have made it travel friendly/tangle free by building it in sections. It can be broken down piece by piece as seen in the pictures. This way I can travel with it, adjust the length, and some of my salmon fishing gear back if it doesn't work.
All attachments are metal to metal-accept the lead at the base and the main line(15 ft) from my buoy- which are crimped 350lb mono. I figure that way if/when it gets bit it is less likely to break.
The squid are threaded on 120lb nylon coated wire (stranded) and held in place with a crimp and bead. The wire crimps are wrapped with electrical tape because I hate getting poked with wire.
Anybody have some ideas for improvement, or more importantly should I even bring it with me?
