Hi bbk,
One distinct difference that the Sea Stinger Polespear (aka Killer Bee) has to all other polespears, is the ability to move the attachment point of the latex tubing.
This is seen as a benefit for really close work, under a ledge for example where the target is close, but you need to get your face in the dark to see the fish/lobster (eg Bahamas).
Could be difficult with a long pole spear.

Besides the actual shaping of the pole, the tip that is included in the cost of the Seat Stinger is unique as well.

Whether the above features gives the pole spear a big advantage over other quality polespears (Gatku - Henley - Manny Puig - etc) will vary in opinion from spearo to spearo.

Mike.

its just like buying a gun. its all preference.. all polespears can pretty much use any tip so to me the adjustable band is very helpful. the only thing that would hold you back from buying it is the fact that it only comes in one size. with the tip its about 7 1/2 feet to 8 i didnt measure it.... i have and love it so good luck on whatever you get.

kool, i see the benifits of the adjustable band location (to some extent.. it is only a 7.5 or 8 foot total, so you will be moving the band location a matter of 2' tops really; and i really rather have a breakdown pole for travel reasons)(and has anyone on spearboard really adjusted their band location under water... i.e. right before you look under a ledge or something) ... and if im not mistaken it has a square pole right? .. i saw one thread somewhere, where someone was saying it struck with more impact over fiberglass pole spears. i really dont see how thats possible... if you want more juice, just put on a heavier band.
ive been using a biller fiberglass pole spear (5' pole with (2) 24" extentions + different style tips- single flap, slip , and paralizer) for 2 years now and ive never had any problems with it. before i had the biller i had a jbl aluminum one, but that got bent bad some how in the bed of my truck and i gave it away...,,
I have to say the solid fiberglass pole is way better than the hollow aluminum one that slowly filled up with water...
+ i like the biller because i can use it as a 5'er around ledges and simple dives, or add a extention or two on as i go for bigger fish. and to me the solid 5' pole is key to me.. i dont like having a link sliding thru my hands... i want that part of the pole to be solid. + and it fits in my surfboard bag perfect for trips... where the killer bee might be a little long. blah blah blah yakity smakity... boarding huh?

Hi bbk,
The Sea Stinger is also now available in a 2-piece configuration.
It is round and not square.

The "link" or join in the Sea Stinger goes from a large to small diameter as it passes through your hand. ie the front section of the pole, where you hold it, is the widest section of the unit.

Sea Search advertises that the hydrodynamic shape of the Stinger is more effective and by that, I assume delivers more punch for the same power

Powering up, by installing a more powerful band is sometimes an uncomfortable remedy.

Regards,
Mike.
