someone posted a link in that marlin photo forum and its pretty cool. www.freedive.net/ibsrc/ if you go to "world records" then click on the pictures of the record fish, the person who speared tells the story. I didnt read them all but particularly liked the black marlin one.

How many bands are on that gun? Looks like a Riffe.

There were several Riffe type home made wooden guns assembled by serious freedivers on the left coast several years ago with the Ulitmate bullpup trigger assembly. This system had several advantages, not the least of which is the constant trigger pull independent of loading pressure, and the fact that is it about the strongest trigger assembly ever commercially available. It is also a "unitized" construction that can be inletted into a wood stock easily with no compromise in strength. All mechanisms are fully supported in appropriate bushings in a milled 7075 Al housing and the "moving" parts have the pins investment cast as an integral part of the sear and trigger, then machined to bring all working alignments to within .005" of nominal. The trigger assembly accepts either a JBL or Riffe shaft with no mods.
Damn nice mechanism.
I can't tell from the photo which trigger it carries. A side view would help a lot there.
