Went out to 120' on Les's new boat Slay Ride. What a ride it is!

first drop on some converted loran numbers was a bust. Small Bit of structure but no fish.

2nd drop was on a nice ledge in 120. We saw all the fish before we even hit the bottom. Red snapper, Hogs, and thick grouper everywhere. The Slayfest was on! I remember Les and I both stringing and reloading looking at each other in amazement as we raced to shoot the big hogs and snapper in front of us. I became one with the 60ss freeshaft. Sling...reload...repeat 10 minutes later when the green cloud of fish blood cleared I could not fit another fish on my ss stringer. Grabbed several lobster and one of the two shafts Les lost and headed up loaded down. Good dive when you can hardly lift your own stringer. Les got a 23# hog on that dive too.

3rd drop we backdove the same spot. Saw a large Mola Mola about 20' off the bottom that was very cool. Saw 2 lionfish and lots of scallops. Does anyone know if the scallops on the reefs are very good to eat? Picked up a 10# lobster and another fat scamp. Went into deco on that last dive. That was one cold deco stop!

Back to the dock by 5pm warm and dry with a fat stack of fish. Gotta love it.

Amazing day. Rum tastes so much better when there's a ton of fish in the box. That's a big Hog and a big Lob. Great pictures Rob.

Shot my first hogfish yesterday also, should of had a decent sized scamp but hesitated and it holed up on me(I won't make that mistake again:mad: ). Of course Roblander left out the best "pose" of the day so I'll share with everyone. :p

Waiting on you Ben. It's not a guarantee, but the new boat has some pretty good odds and it seems they're here all year long. Water temp South was a frigid 58 Friday, but 20 miles north was 67.5 on Sunday. Weird.
