Just want to know what everybody is wearing as far as wetsuit thickness right now. Want to get out there and enjoy the vis(If it's still there after the blow on tuesday). Used to clean boats in palmetto during january two years ago and the coldest i ever jumped into was 62. I was wearing a 3mil chicken vest and a 3mil full suit. It was almost painful I was so damn cold. Kind of in the market for a new suit, wet, not dry. So just wanting to know how comfortable you guys are with what thickness wetsuits....Thanks in advance..
Destin area - 7 mm with a 3 mm hooded, short sleeve vest. There's a lot to enjoy out there this time of the year, but you don't enjoy it if you are cold.

I am in a dry suit in this weather, but Henderson and Scuba pro both make really nice 7mm suits that will be a comforitable as a 7mm can. Most people have a 7mm on right now with a 5mm hood.

I use a one-piece 4/3, but the most import thing is a hood. If you had the thickest wetsuit on earth with no hood you would die. I had mine on in 56 degrees catching crabs a week or so ago and I was fine.

I bought a Scubamax 7mm Superstretch Semi-Dry with integrated hood from Capt. Gene at Aquatic Adventures 813-788-6476 last year. It is the freaking cat's meow. I use it freediving and scuba when the water temp drops below 65.
Ive been diving a 2 mil suit with 1/4" hood gloves and booties, but I wouldnt recomend this to anyone... warm water dumped in pre and post dive helps a whole lot. my old drysuit so it sits there unused 'cuase it got too tight (for some reason)... but I got a DUI trilam on the way.

I just wear a skin suit then a 3 mil on top and the Henderson 5 mil hood. Seemed pleanty for me but then again when there's fish all around you cold is the last thing on you mind.

Henderson seems to be the way to go but does anybody know if the gold core or regular 7mm two piece is that much better or just extra frills for too much extra money?

I dive with a 5/3 Henderson one-piece and a 3mm Henderson (Gold) vest/hood and 3mm Henderson booties. Been in water as cold as 55 degrees and never been cold! My 0.02.
As for the "gold" being worth the extra money....lets just say if I did it over again, I would buy the same rig in plain neoprene and spend the extra money on something tangible!

7 mil ScubaMax,super stetch, no hood, semi dri., hard to put my big ass in a 2xl but man I'm almost too hot in it. I own Henderson gold and many others but Scubamax is the one.
