It would definelty be good to have one for offshore. Just make sure you dont use it around the rocks.

Slip tips are more fussy to use, and take longer to get ready for the next shot, get fish off the spear etc. They also result in fewer lost/injured fish. For Mahi Mahi, which are pretty soft flesh fish I recommend them wholeheartedly. Depending upon the fish you are targeting and under what conditions, fixed barb (Hawaiian flopper) spears are more practical, easier to use and quicker to turn around, reload etc. But they can result in more tear-offs. I have recently got an awesome tip from Mori to fit my 7mm spear on a 130cm railgun, which I use for soft-fleshed gamefish such as mahi mahi, mackerel etc. I've just ordered Mori's 8mm tip for a heavier spear/gun combo for bigger fish and plan to use it on tuna next month.

And yes, don't use a sliptip around rocks...the tip adapter itself can bend very easily!
