This is my first time doing this, but here goes:

Myself & fellow spearboard member Curt went spearing today out of Key West. Dove on the Gulf side at a wreck (Alexander's Tug), a tower, & a shallow reef called New Ground. Then we headed south to the Atlantic side & dove Marquesas rock on the barrier reef.

Conditions:
Gulf - Temp 64F, Viz 10ft, Seas 1 ft, 1 knot current
Atlantic - Temp 72F, Viz 60ft, Seas 1 ft, no current

The body count: 5 hogs (2-5lb, 1 4lb, 1-3lb, 1-2lb) & 1 red grouper (5-6lb). Weights are approximate except the larger hogs. All the fish except 2 smaller hogs were shot on the gulf side.

Now if we can just move the fish to the clear, warm, still water.

Hey Mobile Diver

I think I went past you @ 3:30 pm about 10miles W of KW on our way in from Coal Bin rock bouy area diving. We were in a 30' Scarab center console. The power cat we went by looked like the pix of yours on your website. We were cruising about 40mph.
Dives today @ CB bouy area had 75'F blue water , vis varried 30-50+ feet. Drift diving along our regular spot we followed sand line a bit beyod and found a new ledge. Capt. Steve from Subtropic [ my guest today ] Speared a 12# black grouper, and I nailed a 28# black I found hiding in a small cave @ this new spot. We got some nice hogs {12 } , 6 Lobsters . It truley was a beautiful day to kill fish.

Let me know if that was you, I'm in KW for 30 days, maybe I'll see you again

I definitely recall you guys. Wasn't the viz awesome out on the reef? I am going again in the AM. I have been to Coalbin when bug season opened & there were hundreds, but not after the pots had been there a little while. Nice job on the the grouper.

The folks at Subtropic are terriffic; they have been wonderful to me. Maybe see you out tomorrow. I'll have to look quick; that Scarab is fast.
