I am looking for a 7mm suit for scuba in SoCal. I have a Scubapro Barrier 7mm but I get alot of flushing with it. Plus it seems to still be cold sometimes.

I'm looking for something that is easy to don and doff and that will keep me warm.

I mainly just hate fighting with my wetsuit to get it on. So ease in Donning is a big consideration for me.

I'm also leaning towards a farmer john/ jacket set for the added warmth. And so I can just remove the jacket between dives instead of folding down the top and dealing with it in the way and flopping around.

What wetsuits can you guys recommend?

if you want an easy wetsuit to put on you need one with hyperstretch material.I used to use a henderson for freedivng but i got a freediving suit. The henderson is warm and really easy to put on but they are expensive.

Anyone have any experience with the Pinnacle Escape 7mm Farmer John?

I am larger on the top and smaller on the bottom so I dive a mixed size suit for freediving. It looks like I might have to do the same for scuba to get a good fit. unless I go custom. Which I don't really want to do right now.

Are there other 2 piece suits I should look at that are under $350 or less?

Spend a little more for the Yazbeck, it's worth it, zero water circulation http://www.freediveshop.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_52&products_id=156

I have a Picasso 5mm Ghost suit that I tried to use for scuba and I froze my ASS off! So the yazbeck would be no different. The softer Yamamoto neoprene compresses to easy at depth. Yes it is soft, comfortable, and warm as hell for freediving. I've been diving with the Picasso for a couple years and always been hot in it. But once I got it down to 40 feet for 30-40 mins it just couldn't cut it to keep me warm.

check Elios, you can get a suit made with Heiwa neoprene, medium density neoprene, better for depth and still pretty flexible. http://www.eliossub.com/index.html

My first thought on this was that you need a dry suit! And then I realized that you probably are a freediver and that the DUI CF200 just wouldn't be an option for you.
I use a Scubapro Everflex 7mm suit and I really like it. Of course, I'm on scuba and I don't know how well it will work for a freediver. My favorite feature is the extreme amount of stretch and give that the material has. It makes the thick material very comfortable to wear, plus it allows the suit to keep a snug fit without restricting your movement. This keeps excess water from flushing through the suit, keeping you warmer.

You should think about an Elios freedive suit. i bought a 7 mm custom jacket made of their medium density rubber that they recommended for scuba and it was very warm for scuba diving. They ofer a huge viarety of materials, thickness, and I think three different densities of rubber.

I am looking for a scuba ONLY suit. I have a great freedive suit. So the one I'm looking for now is only for scuba.

jfjf - how durable is that Everflex suit? That is one that I am looking at. I'll be doing a lot of bug hunting so I don't want a suit that can't take a at least a little abuse. (I am currently diving in the ScubaPro Barrier 7 and don't like it) That is the suit I am actually looking to replace. Since I'm larger on top then on the bottom I get alot of flushing since the suit only fits the top part. So if I go with the Everflex I might be able to go with one size smaller to fit the bottom part and "hope" that it can stretch enough to fit the top.

The Elios suit seems pretty durable, but I have not used it that much. Sounds like you might need a custom suit if your are proportioned unusually and you demand a good fit? Don't know if mine was called an everflex?

I have replaced my 7mil to henderson insta-dry 5mil. I get better performance out of it and half the time it does not feel like I am in a wetsuit. I love it. Use it for both scuba and breath-hold.

The merino wool lined elastraprene Pinnacle is the way to go. imho.
Warm and easy to wear. Great choice. Great company.
They are kickin Henderson's butts in the Fla market because the Hyperstretch suits don't hold up well and are not warm by comparison.

Have you contacted pinnacle regarding suit for your measurement requirements. They have a very large size selection for height vs weight requirements. Was ready to purchase a dry suit but tried the Pinnacle Polar and now see no need.

ScubaMax 7mm semi-dry, it zips across the chest and has an intgrated hood. I had it in 59 degree water earlier this year and I was warm the whole time. Got it for $190...

Its kinda a pain to put on when its new, but after you get it on you dont take it off right? I just unzip it and pull the hood off...

Those Pinacle suits look really nice. I got a Diveskin custom 7mm suit with attached hood and everything. It is a very nice suit for (I think) $200 delivered. I kind of think any 7 mil suit that fits you correct will be nice. Once you get to 7mil, fit is everything. Custom suits like Diveskin and Elios eliminate that fit factor. But if a Pinnacle fits nice, I think I'd get one of those. My suit has exactly zero slosh factor. I feel exactly zero water rushing in. There is no room for water anywhere with the custom fit. I guess you could call it a semi dry suit due to that.

I run the 3mm Yazbeck one-piece and I found that:
They run a bit short in the leg area (I'm of perfectly average build)
The neck flushes a lot, and trying to tighten it further with the joke of a Velcro system they use results in it popping open constantly.
One of the seams in the neck area split after just a few uses.
The ankle area material is falling apart on one ankle.

I now have to wear a 2mm long sleeve top under the Yazbeck just to stay warm and this is in Hawaii.

On the plus side, the material seems cutting edge. The loading pad works well. It looks decent enough.

I wouldn't buy another one nevertheless.

I would look into the Pinnacle 7mm and the BARE 7mm full suits. The pinnacles are very warm, but not the easiest to don and doff. The BARE suits are very warm, and stretch nicely, which makes donning and doffing a breeze. The BARE suits also have inner seals in the forearms and calf areas that keep cold water out. I use the 7mm BARE on 260' wrecks in approximately 60 degree water, and I'm very comfortable. If your water is colder than this, 7mm may not be enough for you.
