some reports
Friday..
crew-capt. olando, angel, and robertico
seas-flat
viz-top to bottom
depth-mostly 50ft...

the capt. shot 4 groupers, 3 of them being 25 lbs and the small one weighing in at 10lbs or so...something rare in miami.,..

robertico came through with a fat 10 lb mutton which wouldnt let him get an easy shot, but still blasted him away from full range of his line gun, with the line stopping the spear from exiting the fish...not a problem as he hit the fishs backbone...
he also got a +30lb aj without the use of a reel or float that bends his spear...

angel shot a nice +30lb aj with a hail mary shot at 50 ft of water which took all his line of his reel gun and supposely dragged him under water 50 ft with lighting speed, but it couldnt stop him as he enjoyed the roller coaster ride...

saturday
crew-capt. olando, corzo, niko and i
seas- 1-2'
viz-top to bottom,
depth-20-45

not many fish to be seen...
we lost a war to good grouper which holed up..
capt. olando didnt bring his dive gear expecting 5 of us, but since 2 didnt show up, i lended him my gear...
he shot a 20lb grouper with a hail mary shot but the shaft pulled out, the people on the boat pointed me into the direction of olando..when i showed up their was a stranger "spearfishermen" who tried to go down and shot olando's almost dead fish just laying down half way into a ledge...as the stranger was going down, olando chased him down half way and grabbed his gun, and preceded to go down and try to get the grouper with his bare hands unsuccessfully...i came, as the weird stranger left, dove down, and put the kill shot into his beautiful 20lb black which was barely alive with a broken back in 40 ft...

my friend corzo shot a yellow jack which bent his spear up badly...
my capt. was saying that my double band 120 ra didnt have the punch at long range as his small pnuematic gun...

g,
aj's were in 50 ft out of cesars creek...south towards ocean reef...
if you want to shoot ajs, i noticed they follow the bait around, and we found one spot which we have for grouper, and the bait was holding very well, and you can see the ajs in packs picking off the baits on the bottom...

im def. going out this weekend...i really want to freedive some 50ft wrecks in key largo...

Good post Jeremy, nice haul especially for the Miami waters. You got me a bit confused with the "stranger" reference. Perhaps you can elaborate. Nonetheless, good pics and sounds like you guys had a great time. BTW is it "Olando" or Orlando. He likes pneumatics, he must be Cuban.

Yep, looks like we'll be heading out this weekend as well. I just bought a new pair of pink silk speedos at Just for Queers. I made sure to get them two sizes smaller than usual. The gentleman at the counter, Carl, suggested I test them out with my new Carbon Fibre Rabitech. He claims its a good combination...I'll report back on its results.

TaTa...

rolando,

what i meant with the "stranger" reference, was that some unkown freediver off of another boat nearby tried to take our grouper...

you crack me up with your speedos, of course orlando is a cuban, hard core one for sure...even though i thought it was olando, its just the cuban ascent that confused me...

good luck with the speedos, if you rock them in the cold 75 degree water (tampa guys are laughing) you will def. get a groupers attention...

wait to you see my new wong gun! by the way i saw sheri freediving that day too, so that was cool...she did well too catching two groupers herself...

I heard you got the semi enclosed track hybrid, right? I just picked up a 60" regular hybrid in Hawai'i last month. They sure are beauties. Hoping to try it out this weekend.

Did you see any macks out there?

Thats correct, I got the 58" carbon fiber semi enclosed track hybrid, mid handle. Thats sweet, they sure are beauties...

I didn't see any macks this weekend...
Yeah, just watch out with shooting the ajs, make sure to rock your floatline or you will get a bent spear...
