Announcing the taking of registrations for the first ever annual Palm Beach Blue Storm Open!
Now that the Southern Open is over and successful, I thought the timing is good to roll out episode two of the Blue Storm Series. There are 30 days until the forces converge on Palm Beach. I think you will like the chosen air-conditioned venue and the timetable as follows:
Palm Beach Blue Storm Open Dates & Locations
Thursday, July 24 - Captains' Meeting
Saturday, July 26 - Shooting Day
Sunday, July 27 - Weigh-in, BBQ and Expo
Rain Dates: August 9-10
Riviera Beach Marina
Tiki Waterfront Sea Grill
and Newcomb Hall
200 E 13th St
Riviera Beach, FL 33404
561-845-5532
The rules and format are essentially the same as the Spearboard Open and therefore you can hunt anywhere in the Southeastern USA that you can drive your catch in by car or truck.
Go to www.SpearWars.com (http://spearwars.com)to sign up and learn more about the rules.

Anyone who has been here knows what a great spot the Tiki Grill is. They will be catering the meal for the PBO.

The scenery at the Riviera Beach Marina is great. There are plenty of spearfishing-friendly charter boats there and at other nearby marinas such as Lake Park, Jupiter and many more to the south.

The PBO event will be held right next door to the Tiki Sea Grill at the air-conditioned Newcomb Hall. There will be a vendor expo there and dining at circluar tables as well as a great "prize wall" up on the stage.

We plan to have the weigh-in under our tents right here next to the hall where the expo and prize wall will be.

The trophies will be just as nice as the SBO trophies costing over $200 each.

And we will deploy our custom-made big fish display tables. John Biggs (aka Biggsy) will be our weighmaster again. Thank you so much John. You are the man for a tough job!

The Spear Wars TV show crew and mobile production studio will be on scene capturing all the fun for the universe to see.

Lastly, we need to keep in mind that this PBO event is part of a bigger tournament series with a special prize package and trophy set at the end for first, second and third place based on cumulative points. The current top contenders are shown below. But, who knows how that aspect of the series will shake out? There could be a contender who comes from way behind to kick everyone's butt!
If you did not shoot the SBO, do not fret, there will be plenty of wonderful prizes on the PBO "prize wall." Plus, you get to meet for the first time or see again many of those screen names you may have wondered about on Spearboard.
I hope to see you there at the Palm Beach Blue Storm Open for a good time! Tony

Looks like a great facility Tony.
The things I really like are the indoor hall with AC for a summer tournament, and the Spearfishing/Dive Expo!

I did some mapquest runs to see how far the Palm Beach Open location is from the fringes of where the SBO has drawn participants. Interesting results.
Kenner, Louisiana to Riviera Beach, Florida = 803 miles = 12 hours
Wilmington, North Carolina to Riviera Beach, Florida = 714 miles = 10 hours
Key West, Florida to Riviera Beach, Florida = 238 miles = 4.5 hours
Tampa, Florida to Riviera Beach, Florida = 195 miles = 3.5 hours
Jacksonville, Florida to Riviera Beach, Florida = 280 miles = 4.5 hours

For anyone not familiar with the area, here is the link to the Palm Beach County Tourism website:

There are lots of good hotels and activities in the area.
The diving section of that website is incomplete for sure, but here is the direct link:
