Glad you're having good luck. I've been reading your posts when you planned to dive, again and again, only to be discouraged by bad vis. Makes it taste all the better.

I'm watching the news right now and the water temp is 54 degrees! That is the temp we usually see in April! It is strange right? It will be interesting to see what the Summer will bring this year. So far I haven't been seeing the same types of fish around. The trigger fish just showed up but the schools of sheepshead and spade fish are sparse as far as I can see.

That cold water you guys are getting is probably from up welling. I am surprised it's been lasting as long as it has. Where has the wind been coming from recently? West winds will push the warmer surface/nearshore water out to see, allowing cooler, deeper, offshore water to up well along the coast. It happens over the summer, but never for such an extended period of time from what I can remember last year. If it's not upwelling then I have no idea what it is.

i got out again this afternoon, shot another 15lbs bass and hit a 13lber but lost him at the boat, the vis came back and was 15ft.I think the wind was out of the south west.

It blew hard SSE yesterday. Summer time south wind = upwelling. Especially when it get above 20 for more than 6 hours. Turns off some fish, bass and tog get crazy, vis goes to hell.

Yeah way to persevere Jmik90 your diving plans were getting shot like mine for awhile there. Good job.
I jumped in yesterday and the water temp jumped back up into the 60's. Really crappy vis but thankfully the triggers have settled along the jetties in decent numbers.
