I will post here as it is more my back yard and hopefully some of the NW folks have pneumatic guns so can give feedback. I have a Mares Cyrano a Sea Bear 16" and a Magnum RP 70. If you have a Pneumatic just give a small feedback on it and your likes dislikes and recommendations. I am looking to buy an Omer Tempest 50 or 70 for my wife and would love to hear from someone who owns one.

Diving report for Victoria B.C. Freaking amazing this summer. 30 - 40 foot vis. Lots of big ling cod 20 + lbs. Most reefs are teeming with rock fish.
Would love to touch base also with a PNW spearo who has taken a halibut up here for tips on how to find them and hunt them + would you try it with a pneumatic not rigged with float and reel? Seems like it would be a real challenge.

Seeing lots of Puget Sound King crabs lately up here as well? Anyone else have same experience?

I used a Mares Cyrano 850 for lings in WA for years. It was very effective and accurate. It was a litte tough to load at times but I got used to it.
I later switched over to a band gun and found that I was getting much more fish and was able to reload a lot faster. You know what it is like sitting in the kelp and having rockfish swimming all around. They didn't spook with the band gun.
I have never speared a halibut but really want to get back up there and give it a try. I have had friends find them in depths as shallow as 40 ft. They are usually in the sand next to structure. Good luck.

Hey livin here in ark diving fresh water with low vis pneumatics are king, i have a cyrano850, seac sub asso65, and stealth 70. I can reload mine far faster than band guns, guess its what you get used to. My only thoughts now were that i got a long sten for the bigger shaft. Or maybe a cyrano970 but i love them.

I've had a Mares Cyrano 850, Mares Sharpshooter 70, Omer Tempest 70, and now an Omer 70 with the 8mm shaft. The Tempest was the only one I couldnt shoot well and I think it was the 7mm shaft that was the issue. Anything with an 8mm shaft has been fine: fast, powerful and accurate. The 8mm spring stainless shafts don't bend as easily, either.

Mark, of the 3 guns when you are about to jump in the water which one do you grab almost every time?
I grab my Mares Cyrano 700 almost every time when I don’t know what I will encounter. It has taken fast swimming bass in the 3-7lb range at up to 15 ft shots. It also has the power to blow through a 42lb ling...My personal best so I love the gun for that. Short powerful accurate and versatile in the kelp and current. My wife though wants a different gun? If it makes any sense the Cyrano doesn't "look" good to her and probably clashes with her dive gear (ouch just got smacekd for that one).

She likes the look of the Omer and the size so if with the 8mm its does well I will go with it otherwise the Cressi is her next pick.

Just not such a good gun that she can out fish me OK
