Ram Mounts for Electronics

Has anyone ever used one of the RAM mount stands for their electronics? If so, was it worth the $$ or a complete waste? I have a Lowrance LCX-15MT which I was thinking about buying it for.

I've used a RAM mount for a Handheld GPS Lowrance Global 12 (Big old one)

The thing works great. 5 years on the boat never had to so much as think about it. Also I take the GPS off quite a bit to use for other activities.

Have you noticed any corrosion on the metallic parts? I am thinking of getting one for my Garmin GPS 76. Thanks.

No corrosion that I have really noticed, but I have not really been looking at it.

The balls are rubberized and the rest is painted or possible powder coated. I have not had to look at it at all so my recollection of the mount is not very good.
