All the striped bass are gone from the Camden aquarium in New Jersey, but there were a few Atlantic sheepshead, but I knew not to bring my speargun there...haha!
Going diving on Sunday. Does anyone know what the water is like after the deadly rip currents? It's nice when the water gets mixed up but I don't want to run into any dead bodies down there.

I hate to diss my neighbor city but, I didn't want to pay the $9 parking fee so I looked for street parking and each parking meter was totally different and mostly broken. One was for 2 hours, the next was for 12 hours (but broken), I found one for 5 hours that took dimes and nickels and quarters that gave more time for the $ that worked. Super getto..... I'm not to impressed with the place overall. So far, Boston rules as well as Coney Island, Long Beach, and LaJolla. Never been to Baltimore yet.

Camden SUCKS...Camden aquarium on the other hand is actually REALLY nice. I used to volunteer there, prior to the renovations, and is was really good. I have not been since it was redone and had lots of money put into it and renamed (now the Adventure Aquarium) but a former co worker of mine is a volunteer diver there and says they have really made it a top notch facility.
But park on the other side of the river and take the ferry over...you'll be safer.

As much as I wish the aquarium was on the Philly side of the Delaware river, so I could ride my bike there, it really has done a lot of good for Camden. I really don't mean to diss the aquarium either, the shark tank was really cool. I just need to visit when there are less bus loads of screaming kids.
Speaking of the Delaware and striped bass, apparently some of the largest striped bass come up that river in the Spring. I've seen some photos of huge cows caught near the Commodore Barry Bridge. I've also seen bass near the water ladder near the Art Museum. Not that it has anything to do with spearfishing, it's just interesting.

I like Adventure aquarium. I've been to quite a few aquariums and I'd rank it pretty high in comparison to some of the others. Sucks they don't have the bass any more though. Last time I was there they had a few really good ones. Anybody been to that aquarium in Atlanta? I hear that one's amazing.
Never been to Baltimore yet.
My brother lives a couple miles away from the aquarium in Baltimore. Very nice but not all that impressive considering the amount of hype it gets. It's smaller than I would have expected. Fish wise Adventure's just as good. I do make it a point to stop in whenever I'm there though. They have cool specialty exhibits from time to time that don't necessarily have to do with fish but can be really interesting.

Good to hear. Years ago my brother and I used to go small mouth fishing on the Delaware and once in awhile we'd get a tiny striper. They say the Delaware river spawning population has seen a pretty big resurgence.
