Can someone help me i have a pneumatic gun which i have used a few times does it really make a difference band or pneumatic. The reason I am asking is because I have not seen any one else with pnuematic gun free diving and I have heard that pneumatics make bubbles and scare fish away. I don't know if that's true or not.

Your pneumatic shouldn't release bubbles. The air captured behind the cylinder that pushes the shaft is trapped. Pneumatics make a noise when the cylinder slams against the inside of the muzzle with each shot. Having said that, pneumatics are very popular among the divers in our Delaware freedive spearfishing club. They offer a lot of power in a short, maneuverable gun.
After you take a shot you might want to move along to a new spot until the fish calm down where they first heard you.
Good luck,
David

Get with outlaw-outdoors... he sells and services them. Pneumatics are about all we use, mostly, in freshwater. This guy knows 'em.
I think DSmith is on the right track, though.

Yeah, alot of freshwater hunters use them solely...I think it has to do with big fish in murky water??

I've owned a few and had a bunch of trouble with them.
The main problem was my brother, who dropped two of them off the boat into murky water never to be seen again. The second problem is my brother, who never took care of the ones I left at the beach house and they got sand in them and ended up leaking. The third problem is my brother who kept shooting fish and the rocks they were swimming in front of. The forth problem is they are hard to maintain and a pain in the ass to get fixed. The fifth problem is the power and the temptation to shoot them out of water like James Bond which I did and messed up the gun right away. I really loved my pneumatics for the power and ease of use but they didn't last long. I got my Riffe (which I don't let my brother touch) and I love it and never see a reason to get anything else. The final problem with pneumatics is the word "pneumatic" since I always forget how to spell that word.
If you get a good gun the first time, you will save a lot of time and money avoiding junk.

Your brother needs to stay the hell away from my guns.

Do we have the same brother? My $3K road bike that I road for 2 years without mishap got returned with the rear rim bent - why? "Oh I went off a curb." Every toy as a kid demolished. My first BB guns I let him use ruined. I gave him the 22LR Winchester my dad gave me. He cut the stock and barrel to make it easier to handle? No front sight and illegal had to make him dispose of it. My Skillsaw was returned with a cut cord. My portable tablesaw was returned with table bent.
He only uses my spearguns if he goes out with me. I have had Mares pneumatics over 15 years with no problems. I put a drop of oil about once a month and store them muzzle downward. Pump them up about once a year if they don't penetrate as well.

I also use both types.Depends on the type of band gun you shoot.Billers and the like as well as many euro guns use metal wishbones and they tend to make some major noise.Riffes and hybrid types all much less noisy as they use open muzzles and dyneema type wishbones.
I have mares, nemrod and seac sub pneumatics and they all make noise but as Dave said they are a lot of power in a short profile so they are ideal in low vis conditions.I have only experienced one breakdown with a pneumatic and that was after almost twenty years of use.If you take care to wash them in fresh water and make sure you store them muzzle down they will give you good service.
