Browsing around for awhile now and notice most talk is about the grounds, doesn't anyone dive the shallow stuff. If the weather does not permit the long run, dive shallower. I know the real big fish are deeper but I'll take shooting 24-30" gags and limiting out on 20-22" hogs anyday over sitting home assing up the couch. :D

I agree, and there is probably a bunch of us that would be satisfied getting to our shallow water spots right now. However, the vis reports are pretty bad, and the constant cold fronts blowing through have kept marine conditions poor.
Stay tuned, and you'll probably see more shallow water reports in January. At least, if this El Nino trend slows down a little.

you cant dive shallow if you cant see your hands. in the winter i got spots in less than 15 feet that are great. shallow is always better if the conditions allow. when it happens you will know. it usually clears up north first though.
